Cafe Aruba, also on Rue d'Aligre is the best coffee around, and the girls there are very friendly.  If you miss the morning market, the covered market is open in the afternoons, and as well as fresh fruit and veggies, also have excellent cheese, Belgium beers, delicatessens, Italian specialists, florists, cream and more.  There are a number of supermarkets in the area if one can't find what they are looking for at the market including Franprix (Place D'Aligre) or Monoprix (Rue de Faubourg Saint Antoine\/ Ledru Rollin, next to the metro) or a Marks and Spencers for English delights (Ave Ledru Rollin) and bio stores Naturala (Rue d’Aligre) or Bio’bon (Ave Ledru Rollin).
