The village of Fournes in the Municipality of Platanias is 15.5 km southwest of Chania and is built in the rich valley of Keritis. It is the largest orange-village in the county. In about 15 minutes you can drive to northern beaches such as (Platanias, Agia Marina).
The village is set amidst a lush green valley full with orange trees. During the flowering of April and May, as you get closer to Fournes, you can feel the fragrant smell of orange blossoms. On all the surrounding hills, there are also large olive groves.

In the village, there are grocery stores, traditional cafes and in the region you can find many traditional taverns, with delicious Cretan dishes. Offcourse you can also find a traditional bakery, doctor's office and a pharmacy. Within 3 km there is bank, post office, super market, police office and gas station. Fournes is surrounded by many other beautiful villages (Meskla, Zourva, Lakkoi, Vatolakos) as well as the gorgeous White Mountains with the famous

Travel Details from the host -> I was born in Athens , and since then I was visiting Fournes (the birthplace of my father), every year. I loved the place so much that every time I had to live I was devastated... Maybe you will feel it soon! ☺ As a natural consequence of that, I moved -due to university studies- in Chania and now I live in Fournes. I'm pretty relaxed about people and life in general and always exited to meet new people from every part of the world. Of course i like travelling! It gives me this nice feeling of being part of a new culture even for a little while. I love arts but mostly I'm into music and photography. Recently I developed a new passion for gardening and indoor plants, as I was trying to make the place that I host, in Fournes, the best that I can. If you stay in it, I hope that you will create beautiful memories to accompany you till your next visit to Crete! I will be glad to help you discover what makes our region so special!
