Tzitzifes is a typical quiet village, located in one of the most beautiful areas of Crete. It is a village built on two adjacent hills, which gradually slopes down to the plain and where there is a ravine between the two hills. This ravine is a water source and there are many plane trees some claiming to be over 500 years old. Cretan fighters gathered here in the 19th century to make plans against the Turkish occupiers. The houses are very nice, they are in the traditional Cretan style made out of beautiful stones. From the top of these two hills are beautiful views over the entire province of Apokoronas. Tzitzifes located in a beautiful green area of Apokoronas province, has been named after the tree "Tzitzifia" (= jujube tree), a tree that is widespread here.
The village is home to approximately 200 residents who are mainly engaged in agriculture and animal management. The main products produced here are olives and wine. Also a number of companies make cheese. In and around the
