Kalyves has many amenities, including banks, shops, cafes and traditional restaurants. Grocery stores, pharmacies, bakeries and filling stations are all close and accessible. Kalyves also boasts three sandy beaches, and has been awarded the "Blue Flag" for beach cleanliness, and exceptional quality bathing water standards. All beaches are within walking distance. At about 100m distance, there is a picturesque bridge overlooking a small river. Lush greenery, majestic trees and small cafes alongside invite romantic walks. For families with children, it is a beautiful natural setting where fish can be seen near the river surface and many ducks and sometimes swans can be seen swimming.

Travel Details from the host -> I currently live in Brooklyn New York where I work as a Fashion Design consultant. My family and I spend summers here at our family home in Kalyves ever year. This property has been in my fathers family and passed down for many generations and is my second home outside the US. My father Angelo and Uncle Chris (property manager) help maintain and run the property and AirBnB guest needs. If you manage to get them both together I guarantee you wont stop laughing. My family and I (parents, brother and sister) stay on the property as well when we are visiting which is usually the whole summer. My sister and I love to visit Kalyves Beach almost every day which is where my parents took us to as kids and frequent the paddleboards or kayaking they have in the area. Some days we venture out to nearby beaches and caves and explore the beautiful island. Theres so much to do in Crete you never get tired of it. And the locals become family. Most of my friends have come more than once because they think of Kalyves as a second home. I love to travel and always include Crete in my yearly trips to visit my home and family. Living in brooklyn NY I get to do other passions like enjoy the many bars with live music, fashion and trade shows I get to attend for work and kickboxing classes I take at my nearby gym. I always look forward to my trips to Kalyves especially during the summer when New york city living can be so hectic. Learning to take time for yourself is key.
