in area-Armeni, GreeceArmeni Village (also Armenoi) is a small village just 800m away from the house. It is near the main island road but away enough to be quiet and peaceful. The village is set in a fertile valley, with the Xydas River passing through it that creates unique routes to walk or cycle around.
The tiny village square is shaded by large trees and there are four taverns you should visit. ‘Drosostalia’ is one of them with excellent taste of food, great portions, very good prices, friendly environment, surrounded by big old trees which create enormous shade. You can walk next to the river and enjoy your coffee or drink to Tsitsikas café or visit the other three cafe in the square and have a drink or taste Raki (cretan drink with alcohol) and Graviera (Cretan cheese). There is a bakery and a butcher shop on the square which you will love for the wide variety of traditional local products.
