The space
We have recently completed the renovation of "Margot's House", a delightful Venetian town house in the rather bohemian area of Splanzia, Chania, (pictured in the slideshow on the right, and on this page).
Close to 1821 Square, with its many outdoor cafes, Margot's House is typical of Chania's ancient stone-built artisan houses, stretching over three floors, and with a delightful roof terrace - and double doors from the bedroom leading to a balcony over the narrow street (too narrow for cars). The city centre of Chania is a 10-minute walk away.
Many of the original features have been preserved, from the huge stone bread oven in what is now the sitting room, to stone alcoves and doorways with intriguing decorative mouldings. New lighting has been installed throughout, so that the house is light and bright, and of course there is full air conditioning.
