The flat is not a 5-star hotel standard and it's not huge, but it's comfortable and has everything you need in it for a few months' stay and is extremely well situated. I believe the downsides of the studio (size and non-pristine nature) are reflected in the price, but if some wear and tear are out of the question for you and you need a lot of space, I don't recommend you book (please don't do so and then complain afterwards). St Gilles is a fantastic neighbourhood. The Parvis de St Gilles is a stone's-throw away and offers uncountable bars with terraces (well... uncountable after sampling a few belgian beers anyway (; ).
The Porte de Hal (a stone's throw in the other direction) is the last remaining gate tower of medieval Brussels' city walls and now houses a museum of arms and armor. There are also tonnes of places to eat around, covering every budget - and supermarkets and plenty of night-shops in case you suddenly run out of something. Generally, the area is a buzzing hive of activity, though my house is protected from noise as it's an "arrière-maison", meaning you have to go through a first building and a courtyard to get to it - the best of both worlds. Also you'll be near the Marolles area, which is a very nice place to stroll and hosts a daily flea-market selling everything from clothes and antiques to stuffed animals. And it's also only a 20 - 25 minute walk to the old center of town: the Grand

Travel Details from the host -> I'm a sculptor, a father - a recovering philosopher. I bought my house back when I had a job that paid cash rather than satisfaction - now renting one floor I've fitted out as a studio so as to gain some extra income. I'm very easy-going and I'm likely to be around some of the time, though not in your way as our living spaces will be completely separate. I'm very much open to constructive criticism - especially whilst you're here: let me know if there's anything you need and I'll do my best to get it for you (eg. extra kitchenware, cleaning products, new lightbulbs, coathangers, etc. but also what do you think the studio needs in order to be more comfortable/welcoming) Ah oui - je parles aussi français (couramment).
