Maison Milos is one of the most important and original windmills that used to harness the power of the Aegean Sea winds to grind barley and wheat and provide flour, cracked wheat (trahana) and bulgur (pligouri) to the local farming communities of Kos and the nearby villages. Maison Milos was an operational windmill until the beginning of the last century and is still considered as one of the great monuments of Kos heritage and modern history.
