Upon arriving in Fodele, the first thing we will see is the beautiful, expansive, sandy beach. Following the signs for Fodele, we will arrive at the village itself; a genuine natural monument. Idyllic Fodele is an oasis of green, flowers, aromas, and water; full of stories from legends, myths, and traditions. The village is nestled in a valley of orange and lemon trees and sits on both banks of the Pandomandi River, and is surrounded by towering trees, caves, and mountains.

The space
The house is in the heart of the village of Fodele, on the north coast of Crete, 25 km (16 miles) west of the city of Heraklion; situated right next to the river, and easy walking distance to a mini-market, traditional tavernas, coffee shops and 3Km walk to the beach. It is suitable for families with children, groups of couples and friends.

In Fodele, right next to the central square there is a beautiful park which is reached by crossing a quaint wooden bridge over the river. The numerous tall trees create a cool ambiance and shade during the summer. There is within the park a playground, where the children are excited to play and feed the ducks. In the village you will also find traditional tavernas, coffee shops, and beautiful walking paths along the river. There is also a museum at the traditional home of Domenicos Theodocopoulos (El Greco), with an open air seating area and coffee shop. Many evenings in the summer this area is used for traditional music presentations. There are also two historic churches and a monastery within the boundaries of the village.
