They have been sent from the Byzantine Istanbul and their purpose was the administration of the island by dividing it into twelve parts .
So as the legend says but also the history, one of them the prince Archoleos Thomas or any of his sons enchanted by the beauty of the area from the natural sources and crystal waters from the fertile soil but also the endless view as the horizon of the sea.
So he settled with his family in this place .
The polite Archoleos was kindhearted and very friendly with the local Cretans who loved him and visited him often saying "We are going to Archoleos".
Later on corruptions became "Arcoleos" and finally as today "Arcolios" .
In this legendary area we created Arcolios Epavlis. So close but so far away. A unique c
