Montmartre is a beautiful part of Paris with its small roads, staircases and pretty squares. 30secs to Metro 15mins to Gare du Nord.
The space
Here on the northern side of Montmartre one has the benefit being close to the beautiful village-like centre where Picasso painted, while living in a less touristy environment.
At the top of the hill is the relatively modern cathedral of Sacré Coeur from where you have the best views over Paris. In the grounds of the cathedral is a church founded by Saint Denis, the first bishop of Paris in 250AD on the former Roman temple to Mars, the god of war, hence the name Montmartre (hill of Mars).
