Our stone country house is located in the village Panagia next to the church of Panagia in a quiet spot adjacent to a small river. The large yard overlooks the beautiful landscape around with the wild vegetation of green trees.
The sounds of the birds nesting in them will enchant you. Unique opportunity to escape from the exterminating pace of the big city in a green natural landscape. The beautiful lake of Zaros is 3.5 kilometers away. If you like hiking, the European Path E4 of the Unesco Heritage Geopark, starts from Lake Zaros. For those who enjoy hiking the Rouva gorge and forest are also nearby. Only 30 minutes drive separates us from the south sea of ​​Crete. Matala, Lentas, Agia Galini are some of the famous beaches.
For nature lovers who like to explore, they can wander around the village

Travel Details from the host -> This old stone house was built in 1930. It was a family home. The house is fully renovated recently. It extends in 96 square meters plus 80 sq. meters of surrounding shady verandas and it can host 4 people in two double bed rooms and an extra 2 in a bed couch in the living room. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge ,cooker, fire place and all electric appliances. The toilet hosts the washing machine and an open shower. The big veranda with table and chairs is definatelly a popular "room" of the house where you can enjoy along with your privacy the sunset and the thrilling landscapes of our quiet village. Or perhaps later at night you will enjoy sky observation away from light pollution. The "Paliama by the river" old stone house is located in a little, quite village called Panagia , 40 km from Heraklion city ,in the south part of the region. In just 8 km distance you will run into the well organized town of "Mires" where there is a number of banks, super markets, a health center, various shops etc. In short distance towards the mountains there a number of traditional taverns serving fresh fish from fish farms along with typical cretan dishes. Also in a two kilometer distance you can visit «Zacharioudakis winery" with its awarded wines. Importan historical sights near by are "Ancient Gortys", MInoan Palace of "Festos",Matala village by the sea. Never the less if you are are willing to travell an average of 30 klms towards south, you will run into a number of crystal water beaches in "Komos", "Agiofarago","Agios Pavlos" as we often do on weekends. My name is Stella Malliaraki. I am 43 years old and I was born in Crete. I am married to Dimitris and we have a child of 6yrs, Theodoros . We can communicate in English and Italian.
