Villa Kamares is a traditional villa with heated spa pool situated in the heart of Panormo, a Greek fishing village on the North Coast of Crete not far from Rethymno. The location is ideal, everything is just outside or a short walk from the Villa. This listing is for Astraeus on the first floor of Villa Kamares.

The space
Villa Kamares consists of three lovingly renovated apartments, Astraeus, Helios and Selene. The Villa was originally built in 1912 and has recently been renovated using traditional mother earth materials, adorned with beautiful hand finished stone arches and walls, with some original wooden beamed ceilings and floors. To our knowledge, the Villa is the only one on Crete which has had stone incorporated into its re-build on such a grand scale.

Villa Kamares is furnished with traditional furniture which retains a totally authentic Cretan feel but with all the modern conveniences such as air-conditioning, TV and Wi-Fi access.

Panormo is an extremely attractive village on the north coast of Crete about 21 kilometres east of Rethymno which successfully blends Cretan character with low-key tourism.

The village is a very calm, quiet, civilised holiday destination for people of many nationalities looking for a traditionally Cretan, Greek holiday.

Panormo has retained its charm and originality and has not been spoilt by tourism in any way. Local people live in the village and they are extremely friendly, and everything in the village is within a 2 or 3 minute walk - two fantastic beaches, a dozen or so tavernas serving delicious home cooked Cretan food, a few pleasant bars, three mini-markets, a bakery, butcher, a couple of hairdressers and jewellers, massage and spa treatments, three excursion offices and three ATM machines. This all makes for an extremely pleasant small resort with lots of character.

Travel Details from the host -> Hi, we are Laura & Chris, a married couple with children from a small coastal town on the East Yorkshire coast of England. Like most couples we dreamed of owning a home abroad and began looking for our ideal place. We stumbled across Panormo, Crete quite by accident and fell in love with the village and its people and soon found our dream property in the heart of the village, our own piece of paradise. We enjoy our lives in the UK and Crete, spending time with our family and friends, as well as sailing, walking and sightseeing. We have a wide taste in cuisines and are always willing to try something new. We enjoy local Cretan food the most due to the intense flavor the land gives the food as it is growing, flavors we think are beyond comparison (my mouth is watering now as I write this!)
