Just a couple of steps from our apartment you will find a wide range of cafes, cosy and varied restaurants, small quirky shops (you will find no high street chains) ranging from clothes to books, furniture, food, patisserie and everything else you might need. On Wednesdays the famous Chatelain market - one of the most attractive markets in Europe - draws in people from near and far. It's the perfect place to start your evening, to meet for an aperitif or impromptu dinner and stock up on excellent cheese, fruit, vegetables, fish, charcuterie, and breads. Travel Details from the host -> I am German, married to an Italian and the mother of two small boys. I have lived in Brussels for more than a decade and love this city and what it embodies: international, laid-back, beautiful without being too precious, full of character and contradictions. I love to travel and exploring new countries, places, and people. Working for an international organization this is part of my job which is fantastic. What I don't like is feeling like a tourist - which is sometimes a challenge. I always look for authenticity and exploring the essence of the places I visit. After having traveled extensively in Asia and America, we are now ready to explore down under. When I am at home I enjoy cooking (and love that I have an Italian husband who knows how to prepare a delicious plate of pasta) and in particular baking, which I find extremely relaxing (and watching the Great British Bake Off is my nerdy definition of a happy evening - to the chagrin of my poor husband). I also love to read, particularly biographies for which I have a true passion. And when the sun is out (not always the case in Brussels, 'tis true), you will find me outside too, walking or biking.
