A little haven in the heart of Lyon’s Old Quarter, the Outhouse is ideal for adventurers. Pass by a flower-filled balcony, push open the door, and what you’ll find is a Hobbit hole with a bed at the top of a rickety ladder, a sofa underneath and a oak workspace to type away at. I’d like to draw your attention to the ladder; you’ll have to be pretty fit and not be afraid of cosy spaces. The bed will fit couples or friends who don’t mind being comfortably squashed together! C’est petit!

The space
Outhouse guests have access to the bathroom in the main house, to the kitchen too if need be. The Outhouse is located the other side of the balcony to where we live.

There is a sofa if ever you need an extra space to sleep. I will warn you, it’s not the comfiest of places (the plan is to buy a comfy sofa bed soon!)

St Just is a lovely district, buzzing with locals, the best bakery in the world, and is slap bang in Roman times. The Amphitheatre is up the road, as is Fourviere, there are parks upon parks and an old church square next to the flat which gives a great sense of space.

It’s 2 minutes away from the Nuits de Fourviere concert venue which takes place in the summer, and bang in the middle of the candles and fireworks during the Fete des Lumières in December.

It’s at the top of the hill from the town centre, so it’s a bit of a climb to get up - but oh so worth it!
