in area-Chania, Greece

The apartment and neighbouring villa is immersed in nature and surrounded by olive groves. It is up on a hill and away from other houses, making the whole place very quiet and peaceful. Within walking distance you will encounter the first villagers' homes who may greet and welcome you whole-heartedly and let you taste their homemade products (thyme honey, raki and rakomelo, fresh eggs and goat cheese "mizithra").

Approximately 3km away, in the village of Vouves you’ll be able to visit the most ancient olive tree of Greece, the branches of which were used to make the 2004 Olympic games athletes' wreaths.

You’ll also find wonderful tavernas and places to eat nearby, including the famous Frosinis Garden.

Travel Details from the host -> Hello, my name is Evienìa/Ευγενία or Eugenia. Let me give you a little background information on the meaning of my name. The prefix "eu" in ancient Greek means "good, well, true, genuine" while "genos" means "genes". There is however another word in Greek "ευγέvεια- eviènia" which means "politeness" which sometimes people confuse with the spelling of my name or even the pronunciation(if they are not Greek speakers) by placing the accent on the wrong syllable. People who know me often make reference to a Greek saying "όνομα και πράγμα" meaning "name and reality/fact". I have learned to grow up with this "word mixing or word play" and as such I have tried to see up to the connotations of my name by trying to always be an example of "good genes, genuinity, truthfulness and politeness" I am Greek and have lived for 41 years outside Greece! 17 years in England and 24 years in Italy. However, I have recently decided to repatriate and now live in my lovely island of Crete! Although Greek by birth, my long experience of living abroad, the extensive travelling opportunities, together with the fortune of meeting so many people from around the globe over the years, make me feel comfortable living with different cultures and at home in a variety of contexts. I can speak Greek, English, Italian, French and I am currently learning Pashto! I am the mother of two "polyglot" daughters who I have tried to raise as "world citizens". What a rewarding experience this has been! I am an educator and linguist by training and profession. I hold a Bachelors of Arts(B.A) in French and Italian, a Masters degree(M.A) in Applied Linguistics and a Post Graduate certificate in Education(PGCE) from the University of London. In 1995 I founded a Bilingual international school in the north of Italy, the first in its kind, and have directed the school till June 2016. I have been a consultant to help other bilingual programs develop both within Italy and abroad. I am an advocate of bilingual and multicultural education. I have been invited to present at numerous international conferences on the topic of Bilingualism and Bilingual education! I now work as a professional consultant, teacher trainer and family advisor. I love children, learning about other cultures and languages. I am thoroughly enjoying hosting people from both Greece and other parts of the world at our studios since I love meeting new people and learn from them! In my free time I enjoy cooking, gardening, embroidering, swimming and travelling of course! My life moto is "lifelong learning"!
