This year we have moved to the second floor in a two-bedroom spacious open plan apartment with spectacular views to the sea .

Very conveniently situated 1.2km from the beach. Closest bus stop within 5min walk-ideal if you travel without a car. Buses run frequently both to Iraklio (18km), Iraklio airport/port/main bus station, Agios NIkolaos.

The space
The apartment aims to cater for the needs of the family and friends and is fully equiped to suit the needs of guests, too. It is pleasant modern and airy. The terrace offers unobstructed views of the typical cretan countryside, olive trees and the sea joining with the sky in the background. That is, you can enjoy endless moments of serenity and privacy.

Gouves is a developing area offering a little bit of everything, varying from big hotels to romantic pedestrian zones by the sea, entertainment, shopping and food. So, it is up to the traveller to discover. Another highlight of the area is the Acquarium which is set in the premises of a previous american military base along with the Planetarium and the Dinosauria, attractions visited by locals as well as holiday-makers. Hersonisos and Mallia are a bit farther east, too while 'NIkos Kazantzakis' airport and the town of Heraklio are only 15 min away by car using the motorway.

Travel Details from the host -> I am a State School Teacher of English and so is my husband. I am also the mother of a young boy. We live and work in Heraklio. Being practical, positive and open-minded are my most distinguishing traits. I also like to travel a lot and when I travel I like to plan my holidays on my own. Being a teacher has given me the opportunity to travel abroad many times and meet and cooperate with colleagues from other countries. I have travelled to many parts of Europe with my students and I have organised student exchange programmes in my hometown, too. Jane Austen is my favourite novelist and I love watching the BBC version of 'Pride and Prejudice'. 'Love actually' is the film I would watch every Christmas and 'Fried Green Tomatoes' and 'Finding Forester' are two films I enjoy watching with my students. 'Moonlight' (2017 Oscar winning) and 'Manchester' are my latest cinema experience because I still enjoy going to the movies. I am also studying music and I am learning to play the trombone(!!!). My ambition for the future is to learn to design and make my own clothes. I can't talk about food. It's become a sore point lately. I wpuld say, though, that I like the food my husband cooks for us. Knowing as much of this world and its people is a great challenge for me and my family. And as members of my extended family come from almost everywhere I would like to be able to visit them all.
