Neighborbood Overview:

St Germain des Pres is one of the most chic areas of Paris, with the Boulevard St Germain playing host to many famous fashion labels. However there is plenty here too for the non fashion conscious. Originally famous for being a hang-out for the bohemian intellectuals and poets, there are consequently a huge array of cafés and restaurants where one can have a bite to eat or a philosophical argument (or both).
Famous cafés include Les Deux Magots, and Café de Flore, both very close to each other near the St Germain church. Further down the Boulevard St Germain you have the lively district around Odéon, and the many streets which branch off from the Boulevard, such as the rue de Seine and the rue de Buci, have many restaurants also, although it is a very touristy area, so some tend to have slightly high prices.
