The people of Covent Garden love theatre so much that they've rioted over it. The area is packed with dramatic stories about prima ballerinas, arsonists, Victorian barrow boys, and even a young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart! I'll show you a secret alleyway that hasn't changed since the 1800s, and we'll even visit a plague burial ground. Hold your nose! This tour is wheelchair-accessible.

Tour Itinerary presented by J. Draper London Tours

We'll see the elite school where young ballet dancers live and train to launch onto a world stage.

We'll get a spectacular view of the 19th century Royal Opera House, and we'll talk about how its audience rioted for sixty-four nights over a price hike.

The market itself is absolutely stunning all year round, with gorgeous Victorian architecture and extravagant floral displays. You'll find out how the place emerged from farmland, and meet the costermongers who lived and traded here.

We will see the 400-year-old church of Covent Garden, where famous actors like Charlie Chaplin and Vivien Leigh are commemorated, and talk about one of its most significant burials- Margaret Ponteous, the first recorded casualty of the Great Plague of 1665.

The most vibrant, exciting part of London is Leicester Square. There's always something going on here, from the early morning to late at night. We'll see where red carpet premieres take place and pay tribute to one of London's most famous film characters- the flying nanny, Mary Poppins.

We'll head into the heart of Chinatown, and stand under its incredible Qing Dynasty gate. We'll talk about Chinatowns past and present, and its murky opium dens frequented by Sherlock Holmes.
