Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, 2 miles west of Amesbury and 8 miles north of Salisbury. It is a ring of standing stones, with each stone about 13 feet high, made from roughly 50,000 bluestones. The ring is arranged in a circle with an diameter of about 1,000 feet. There are no remains of any buildings associated with the monument itself but there are indications that some form of timber or wattle and daub structures may have stood nearby. In the 20th century, during a phase of land clearance in the area, most of these traces were destroyed or obscured. It is possible that finds from this site are amongst those held by the University of Leicester's archaeology department at its site on Camp Hill. The remains lie within a modern field boundary which includes the course and extent of the ridge and furrow system.

Salisbury Cathedral is a beautiful and historic cathedral in Salisbury. The current building was begun in 1220 and completed in 1258. The cathedral is a popular tourist attraction and is often featured in television productions and films. Salisbury Cathedral was built on the site of an earlier Saxon church which was also dedicated to St. Thomas Becket, who had been martyred at nearby Canterbury Cathedral in 1170. It was originally consecrated by Archbishop Lanfranc in 1084, with construction lasting until about the middle of the century. The church was severely damaged by fire in 1499, and restored in 1523-4.The original dedication of the church is unknown, but it was most likely to St Thomas Becket or to King Edward IV. It then became dedicated to both saints.

Old Sarum is an old town in Wiltshire, England. It is the site of the Battle of Hastings and the former capital city of Wessex. It is thought that the town was originally called Bishops Sarum, although this is speculation. The castle was built in 1066 and was destroyed by a fire in 1114. The cathedral was built between 1093 and 1100 and is now a Grade I listed building. The Battle of Hastings in 1066 took place near the town of Hastings, also in Sussex, and the town's claim to fame was that it was the first place in England to be captured by William the Conqueror.

Amesbury, the UK's oldest continuous settlement, is a unique Jurassic Coast village. It has been an important place since the Stone Age, and during World War II it became home to a bombproof factory making bombs for the war effort. Amesbury is the best place to visit in England if you're looking for an authentic and unspoiled rural location. Home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country and a rich history, this town boasts medieval churches, a thriving market and a wide selection of local shops.

The two destinations are about 1-2 hours from London. The journey by car is the most comfortable option, but it can take you up to 3 hours if traffic is heavy.
