Our home is an old traditional Cretan house preserved, almost entirely, as built, striking the balance between environment, energy consumption, function and simple life. Most of the original furniture is also preserved and we tried to use as little plastic and electric machines as possible. Situated on a plateau (320m above sea level), away from massive tourism, the air in the village is always fresh. Our goal was not to become a superhost. Our goal is to share with others things we cherish .

The space
The house is an ingenious traditional building striking the perfect balance between form, environment and function. Never too hot or cold using as little energy as possible. Situated in the mountaineous area of Mirabello, the traditional village of Fourni Lassithiou, in eastern Crete, is about 12km from Plaka-Spinalonga, nearly 8 km from Neapoli and 20km from Aghios Nikolaos. Fourni is a traditional medieval village with narrow streets and stone houses. It is 12 km from the sea but because of its location on a small plateau, part of the Lassithi mountains, the temperatures in the region depend on the weather conditions of the higher mountains and not on the temperatures at sea level. A group of young people staying in the village recently restored the old medieval road from Fourni to Keramos in the same plateau, that our grandmother used to take before the today's road was made. It is a beautiful itinerary that you can walk or even better ride.

Irene lives and works in Crete (Irakleion and Fourni) and Elpiniki lives and works, up in the north in Thessaloniki. She visits Crete during the summer. Irene studies accountant and Elpiniki is in the law business. We love meeting people, travel and welcome guests from all around the world.
