Bed is on the mezzanine: watch your head, low ceiling upstairs.

Neighborbood Overview:

Warm and popular during the day, neighborhood becomes young at the end of the day, like East London in the 2000's and New York Lower East Side in the 90'S. A mixed population (multi-ethnics, riches stars and poor people like in all big cities), life 24/24, with the newest art galleries.
Not a tourist postcard, a lot of artists (you need to have an artist heart!).

Fresh market 4 days per week, Supermarkets 7 days a week (not so much open on Sundays in Paris).
Some of the best restaurants in the world (for the world 50's best) are few steps away (Le Chateaubriand, Le Baratin, Septime), hype bars (Le Floréal, Le Follies, l'Orillon..) and clubs (La Java). You can check on the web about "Belleville" area (like Time's out, Yep...). I did a guide with my favorite address.
Few minutes walk to République (and Haut Marais), Canal Saint Martin and Parc des Buttes Chaumont considered as the best Parc of Paris.
