Travel Guide Tour. Vacation Tour.

This tour is another one of our fun off-the-beaten-track tours and here we will visit some of the most incredible cemeteries in the world.   There are more dead people than living in London and on this tour we will visit the graves and tombs of some of the people that made Britain and the modern world what it is today. We'll also learn about the terrible poverty and sanitation of Victorian London before visiting 2 of the Magnificent Seven Cemeteries that were built by the Victorians to try and improve the city for both the living and the dead. Please note that the cemeteries are spread around North London and so some time will be spent on the tube travelling between sights.

We will explore beautiful Brompton Cemetery which is also a Royal Park! Along the way we will see beautiful tombs and architecture as well as graves belonging to famous names such as Dr John Snow, Emmeline Pankhurst and Chief Long Wolf of the Sioux nation. Brompton Cemetery also is home to a mysterious tomb that may be the only functioning Time Machine on planet Earth!

Another of the Magnificent Seven cemeteries that the Victorians built. At over a mile in length, Kensal Green is not just the resting place of thousands but its in places overgrown nature make it an important nature reserve as well as home to some of the finest tombs anywhere. Amongst others we will visit the graves of Charles Babbage (a Victorian computer pioneer), Marigold Churchill (the baby daughter of Winston), Royalty, Writers, Engineers and Sir William Beatty, one of the forgotten heroes of the famous Battle of Trafalgar.

On the extended tour one of the old London cemeteries which became so overcrowded and unsanitary that it prompted the Magnificent Seven cemeteries to be built. Beautiful but very crowded we will briefly visit the graves important figures such as writers John Bunyan, Daniel Defoe, poet William Blake and Susanna Wesley, mother of the founder of Methodism, John Wesley

On the extended tour option, we will visit the old St Pancras churchyard and see an amazing site.
