Set in an olive grove on the outskirts of Kefalas, Villa Oreastro Studio is the original stone cottage of 35sqm. It has an open fireplace, small kitchen area and shower room.
The Studio is attached to the main living accommodation of the owners, adjacent to the outdoor kitchen.
It is best suited to couples or individual travellers seeking a quiet location without being isolated.

The space
The studio is set in a peaceful location, in a working olive grove of just over 4000sqm (about an acre) of land. As owners, we also live in an apartment above the studio. We keep a number of hens (so fresh eggs!), four dogs, five cats, and two beehives (these are located well away from the guest house). The plot also includes various fruit trees and vegetable patches. All the neighbouring land is either forestry or farming land (olives, grapes, sheep)

Kefalas has two tavernas (including pizza) and a whole host of kafeneons. There are also two mini markets - all within easy walking distance. On your way into the village, you will pass the Kefalas cheese factory.
The nearby village of Vamos offers further choice. Again, numerous kafeneons, tavernas, and pizzerias. There is also a coffee shop with delicious cakes, a bakery, bank, pharmacy and the Vamos Health Centre.
Other villages close by include Gavalachori. Xerosterni, Litsarda, Likotinara and Palailoni, Kalamitsi. Vryses is very traditional inland working town that is well worth a visit.
Almyrida, Kalyves and Georgiopoli are the nearest tourist beaches - all about 15-20 minutes by car. Another gem, not far from Kefalas, is Ombrosgialos. There are few (if any) facilities here, depending on the time of the year, but the setting is spectacular and it's perfect for snorkelling.

Travel Details from the host -> My partner, Rob, and I first came to Crete on holiday in 2009. We immediately fell in love with the place, and continued to visit every spring and autumn since. In 2013 we tentatively started looking at properties here, and eventually bought our plot, with a small 35sqm stone house, no electricity and 70 olive trees, in December 2015. at the end of 2016, once we had a building licence, we extended the house to make it practical to live in, and we also added a second guest house. All the work was completed at the end of 2017. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be living our dream in Crete: The place is beautiful. The lifestyle is relaxed and uncomplicated, and we have a lovely guest house in which to host family, friends and guests. We designed and furnished the guest house based on what we learnt from our many visits, as somewhere would love to stay on holiday ourselves. I would personally love to see my grandchildren (and adults too, if they wish!!) run barefoot through the olive grove, eat fruit straight from the trees and meet the animals. We have two dogs (Sophie and Teddy) two cats (Max and Molly) and currently 24 chickens and two geese. We would be happy to share with our guests our list of favourite places around the area.
