Kolonos is an old neighborhood of Athens. Its name comes from ancient greek and it means hill. It took this name after the hill of "Ippios Kolonos" , a small grove in the middle of the residential area ideal for a short walk. The area in general is not touristic but its so close to the centre of Athens , that is perfect for visitors who want to see all the famous sightseeings and places of Athens but at the same time live among the locals and get a taste of the real life of the inhabitants.
