Tour Itinerary presented by Ye Olde England Tours

For this full-day private tour from York, we will set off across the famously bleak and beautiful Yorkshire Moors, The scenery inspired the literary talents of the Bronte sisters as well as countless generations of historic romantic and sometimes creepy novels set in the sometimes foreboding moors. Fear not, as we will soon have you safely down to the wonderful little sea-side harbour town of Whitby.  You have to see Whitby to believe it, rows or tiny streets to explore in and around the famous and scenic fishing harbour.  There are plenty of restaurants too and if you only have Fish and Chips once during your stay in the U.K. then there is nowhere finer than Whitby. Apart from its obvious beauty, Whitby is famous for two individuals, one famous for sailing around the world and the other infamous around the world.  Whitby was of course the home of Captain Cook, the man who amongst many other things discovered Australia.  His house still stands, little changed from how it was centuries ago. It is perhaps impossible for any living being in Whitby to be more famous than Captain Cook but perhaps it’s most famous resident isn’t actually living at all.  Brahms Stoker set his classic horror novel ‘Dracula’ in this pretty little town and you can follow in the steps of the famous Vampire by walking up the steps to the ruined Whitby Abbey that dominates the skyline above Whitby, sat broodily on the cliffs high above the North Sea.
