Ο Ορθές είναι χωριό του δήμου Μυλοποτάμου, της περιφερειακής ενότητα Ρεθύμνης της Κρήτης. Βρίσκεται 28 χλμ. ανατολικά από το Ρέθυμνο, σε υψόμετρο 320 μ.
Στον Ορθέ υπάρχουν τρεις μικρές εκκλησίες, που τις γιορτάζουν οι κάτοικοι του χωριού κάθε χρόνο. Ο ερειπωμένος βυζαντινός ναός του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Προδρόμου, που σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, οι πιστοί δοκιµάζονται από σωµατικό ρίγος όταν τον πρωτοαντικρύσουν. Τα ερείπια της εκκλησίας του Σωτήρα Χριστού, που είναι η πιο παλιά εκκλησία όλης της περιοχής και χρονολογείται γύρω στα 1100 µ.Χ., σηµείο απ’ όπου στο παρελθόν αντιλαµβάνονταν έγκαιρα την όποια εχθρική απειλή. Η Παναγία της Ζωοδόχου, που κοσµεί το βόρειο άκρο του οικισμού, κι ο Άγιος Παντελεήµονας πάνω στα ερείπια παλιού ναού.

Τα τελευταία χρόνια στο χωριό λειτουργεί Λαογραφικό Μουσείο, κι είναι επισκέψιμο κατόπιν συνεννόησης. Οι συλλογές του περιλαμβάνουν εργαλεία αγροτικής και κτηνοτροφικής χρήσης, παλιά βιβλία, νομίσματα και είδη της λαϊκής παράδοσης.
