If you wish to write, paint, live...come to the fairytale old village of Kato Mixorouma, and stay in a stone-built cottage in a garden flooded with flowers and trees on the bank of the river full of ducks and geese, and let the singing of the birds and the splashing of the river rock you to sleep and calm you. The property contains two small cottages, approximately 50sq m each in a 1500 sq m yard, which also has a large bbq.
The space
The house in this display is located directly on the riverbank. It has a small but practical kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed, the living room has a couch which opens-up into a double bed and an extra couch. The cottage can accommodate 2-5 people. It is a simple but cozy accommodation. Mrs Angela, the owner, will offer true Cretan hospitality during your stay.

The village is in a very calm place surrounded by mountains right on the river. It is in the old historical village of Kato Mixorouma where very few people currently live, as the new village is built about 200-300 meters away. The village has old houses of traditional cretan architecture, which we are now in the process of trying to get the state to fund in order to preserve and define it as a traditional village. Here is a little bit of history….The settlement of Kato Mixorouma is referenced in the first known recording of settlements in Crete by Fr.Barozzi in 1577 and in the Basilicata in 1630. It is also referenced in the Turkish census in 1659 and in the Egyptian census in 1834.
The Kato Mixorouma is built on the north bank of the river which starts in Spili, running year round with lush vegetation dominated by trees, willows, myrtles, oleanders, reeds and citrus. The spectacle that the visitor sees is impressive. The beauty
