Plaka is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. It is known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods" due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its many archaeological sites. It has also many restaurants where you can taste the traditional greek food, as well as bars, cafes and shops. Very close to Plaka there is a picturesque area called Anafiotika. On the other side, 5 minutes walking distance there is another Athenian neighborhood called Koukaki where you can find many small cafes, bars and bistros.
