Neighborbood Overview:

Flushing, Queens, New York is America's largest Chinatown. It features restaurants and shops reflecting the composition of its residents: Chinese, Korean, and Indian. Around the corner is a restaurant that is one of the few places in the United States that serves cuisine from the Dong Bei province of China. Also nearby is Korean barbecue restaurant visited by Anthony Bourdain for a recent episode of his television show. Around the corner is the busiest street in the neighborhood, a densely populated thoroughfare that features a plethora of Chinese bakeries, traditional medicine/herbs shops, bubble tea shops, and food carts. Citifield is extremely close by. Queens botanical garden is a quick walk away.

Travel Details from the host

I am a recent law school graduate and will be living in London from August 15 to September 29. You'll be staying in my room, which is the master bedroom. My roommate will be your host during your stay; he's an amazing chef and can cook a diverse array of dishes. We have an extremely cozy, shared living room with beautiful furniture that belonged to my grandmother, who collected antiques. My favorite items in the living room are the marble table, embroidered antique love seat from the 1950s, ornate porcelain lamps that look like people, and of course, the beautiful (and soon to be tuned) grand piano. My roommate and I have scoped out all the best restaurants in the area (and there are many!) and would be happy to take you on a tour. My grandparents lived in this apartment and I have saved and maintained most of the original furnishings in the living room. The apartment has a lot of character and personality, and we are happy to tell you about its history (there are some pretty funny stories). My roommate and I love to spend lazy weekends chilling in the living room listening to Khia, eating delicious takeout and enjoying the ambiance.
