The settlement is surrounded by lush vegetation all year round. The beauty of the landscape is unique with flora, colours and fragrances in a unique combination.

In the area you will find sports facilities, football stadium, municipal tennis courts, local taverns with traditional Cretan cuisine, mini markets, cafe, grocery store. Staying at Gallos can combine walks into the French Gorge in Agios Antonios Church, as well as in the oak forest.

The beautiful canyon Galliano starts southeast of Gallos and ends at the town of Rethymnon, transferring water from the area of Armeni to the beach of Koumpes. It is 5.5km long and the walk is along a verdant ravine. Near the entrance we meet the old watermill of Saounatsides used till the 20th century, with traces of an old chapel
