The Pentes de Croix Rousse (meaning the base of the hill) is a trendy yet safe neighborhood with street art, artists workshops, ethical stores (and thrift shops) and more. Historic buildings, unique culinary restaurants, record stores, and specialty food markets abound. The vibe is young but loud bars and clubs are few if any. Place de Terreaux, the Opera House, the beautiful Paroisse Saint-Polycarpe church, and Hotel de Ville are minutes away by foot. And the Croix Rousse neighborhood (with unique shops, the silk museum, artists' workshops and much more) is just up the hill by foot or metro (one stop away).

Travel Details from the host -> I am an American in France (I moved here to be with my French husband, Pierre). My hometown (of 26 years) is Atlanta, Georgia but I’ve fallen so in love with France, I plan to stay forever. I'm a xenophile and a former Couchsurfer so my desire is to share experiences with people from all over the world. When I travel, I don't follow an itinerary or list of sites to see, as I prefer to just be in the place I'm visiting and pretend like I'm a local (as much as that is possible). I also most enjoy meeting people wherever I go so that I feel connected to places through the people that live there. My husband and I recently bought an apartment in the heart of Lyon so as to enjoy all that the city has to offer.
