The village lies at the South Eastern section of the island, overlooking the Aegean Sea and the valleys. It is conveniently close to the airport, just 5 km away. There are twelve churches in the village. The distinct churches of Aghios (Saint) Charalambos, with a remarkable bell tower and Panagia Episcopi (in Mesa Gonia) are the only ones on the island with a tiled roof, instead of blue domes. The locals are hospitable, open minded and broad hearted.
