KORONOS is enthusiastically praised by National Geographic as one of Greece’s “Traditional settlements” retaining its unique character through time. It has paved small streets with arches, white stairs which connect the upper with the lower neighborhoods, characteristic houses with blue doors, old churches and cafes, taverns and the famous square “with a balcony”. Koronos is the most beautiful village of mountainous Naxos. It is situated at the north-east of the island, 27km from Chora, Naxos port and the airport. Some 8 km away is Lionas bay, the closest beach. Buses connect Koronos with Chora and the rest of Naxos, several times a day. Apart from the village’s charm, the landscape around it is impressive. Koronos is at the foot of the 2nd highest peak of Naxos (999m/3000ft asl) and features amazing mountain views.
