Two minutes level walk from the villa is the village of Stylos, a quiet and pretty traditional Cretan village, with the ancient Byzantine Church of St John standing next to a modern domed church. Around the corner is a well stocked mini- market which sells fresh bread and produce, as well as all essentials, and there is a bakery and cafe at the other end of the village. A more modern taverna has recently opened next to the mini-market with great service and food, run by three young friends,' 3 and A Cook'.
The spring water which flows down the mountains and bubbles up in a pool in the centre of the village is bottled in the village and sold in local shops and tavernas. Just ten minutes away in the car is the small seaside town of Kalyves, where you will find beautiful beaches and many shops, tavernas, bars and cafes. There is also a large supermarket here.
